Bet on the Wrap Dress this Summer

Updated: Jun 30, 2021

At the same time feminine, timeless, comfortable, and practical, the Lolita dress also, called wrap dress - is undoubtedly THE trendy piece to have in your summer wardrobe. Discover now our advice on how to wear it, as well as our shopping selection to adopt it this season.

For girls shopping, going to the movies or going for a walk on vacation, the wrap dress is suitable for all occasions. It comes in a multitude of styles and materials, giving us a look that is both chic and relaxed. Polka-dot, flowery, short, long ... everyone will find what they are looking for.

FOR WHAT MORPHOLOGY?

First-ever wrap dresses were designed by Elsa Schiaparelli in the 1930s and by Claire McCardell in the 1940s. They were also popular during the Great Depression as women wore house dresses called “Hooverettes" with a similar silhouette. Later, the design was reinvented by Diana von Furstenberg in the 1970s.

The goal is to create a piece that highlights the curves of women, regardless of their age and figure. Its V-neckline offers a pretty neckline, while its cinched shape to tie at the waist emphasises the curves while concealing the stomach and hips. You will understand, the wrap dress is suitable for all body types, and especially for curvy women.

HOW TO WEAR IT?

The midi-length (just above the knee) is great for summer evenings, but longer and shorter variations are also available everywhere. Either way, it looks just as good with a pair of white sneakers as it does with gladiator sandals or a pretty pair of black bikers. For cooler evenings, cover your shoulders with a black leather jacket. Finally, accessorise it with layered necklaces and a small shoulder bag of your choice according to the desired result: straightforward for a bohemian look, in black leather for a rock look or in wicker for a summer look. In terms of materials, we opt instead for fluid and comfortable fabrics such as cotton jersey or linen.
