Fashion At 50 Plus - How to Wear Bermuda Shorts?

Updated: May 18, 2022

A practical alternative to the skirt, Bermuda shorts are gaining ground and infiltrating our wardrobes. But certain complexes could dissuade us from wearing it. Error! We tell you why.

It is an easy-to-wear summer piece because it suits all body types. Fluid and wide, Bermuda shorts provide well-being, comfort and freedom of movement that is much appreciated when the temperature rises. It can be worn in all circumstances, in the city, at the beach or for a long walk. Opt for a knee-high model if you want to camouflage your thighs, but also if you are tall. Prefer a shorter Bermuda if you are small. Finally, add a pair of rope wedge sandals to gain height and lengthen your legs, a pretty pair of flat leather barefoot or simply sneakers.

Bermuda shorts, for all ages

After 50 years, this chic and comfortable garment is an ideal compromise to avoid any fashion faux pas when temperatures soar. You will always be impeccable with well-cut Bermuda shorts, which you can wear with a chic blazer to go to the office. You will put it on over your one-piece swimsuit and an open linen shirt when leaving the beach, or even with a loose cotton T-shirt or a floral blouse for a country afternoon.

Which model to wear?

You are spoiled for choice in the summer collections, whether fluid or close-fitting, with stretchy material, a flat stomach effect or an elasticated waistband. The right model is above all the one in which you feel the most comfortable. But to always be to your advantage, avoid side or slanted pockets, which tend to wrinkle and add material around the hips. In terms of colours, it is better to opt for plain tones that are easy to combine, such as navy blue, beige, green or white. Another option: tropical and/or vegetal prints, very fashionable this season, for a summer look that brilliantly combines comfort and trend.
