Milan is a magical place where there is a unique combination of elegance and sophistication. Its streets, cafes, fashion, and architecture fascinate me and make me want to visit this city more than once. As a mature woman, I really appreciate an outfit which looks fashionable, elegant and comfortable.
I have already understood that style is not about wearing all the latest trends. I like wearing outfits and accessories which make me feel good and comfortable.
Elegant café for breakfast
The first activity on my perfect day would be having breakfast in an elegant café, where I would take a cappuccino and pastries.
While enjoying my brunch, I would be wearing wide-legged pants and a light-coloured shirt made of linen. The top buttons of my shirt would be left unbuttoned, which would make me look elegant as well as casual. I would wear a brown belt with my clothes to enhance my waist.
Jewellery plays a vital role in every chic ensemble. I will accessorise my outfit with a gold necklace, elegant hoops and a gold statement ring. Loafers or comfortable white trainers will perfectly finish the look along with oversized sunglasses and a structured crossbody bag.
Milan exploration
After breakfast comes time for exploring.
Whether I am exploring the beautiful Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II or visiting the designer shops and the Duomo, I would want to look elegant without appearing too dressed up.
A blazer is my go-to item; it can be worn on top of anything and is useful, especially if the weather changes.
Jewellery will be minimal and very luxurious, with items that glitter rather than make the whole ensemble look flashy. A silk scarf draped across my handbag is a finishing touch.
Lunch with a view
It's lunchtime, and it gives me the reason to dress a bit more glamorous.
This calls for exchanging my loafers for either flat shoes or elegant sandals and adding a colourful statement necklace.
Afternoon shopping
Any visit to Milan is incomplete without doing some shopping.
No matter where I go, be it designer stores or the local boutiques, the outfit must be comfortable yet fashionable at the same time.
Yet another amazing combination would be the midi dress and the light denim jacket. I would wear some stacked bangles, an amazing watch, and an elegant tote bag.
As women above fifty, we know for sure that the most stylish thing that you can wear is confidence.
Evening Aperitivo
As the sun sets, Milan changes its look completely.
The famous aperitivo time is my favourite. Drinking wine sitting outside, eating delicious Italian food, and observing people is a great pleasure for me.
It's the time when I would make several minor changes to my outfit.
First, I would take off the jacket, freshen up my lipstick, switch from a day purse to a beautiful clutch and add some statement earrings.
Dinner and late night
As dinner time arrives, I would wear a black midi dress.
It is stylish, elegant, and classic.
I would wear it with metallic high-heeled sandals, a beautiful statement necklace, some sparkling earrings and an elegant clutch.
What I love most about Italian women is how effortlessly elegant they are. They do not depend on too many trends. They purchase good basics and wear them with class and grace.
This is how I like to dress myself too.
Age does not bind style
Your fifties are a great period for creating your own style. You know yourself, you know about quality, and you appreciate small details which make your outfit unique.
Whether you have breakfast in Milan, are shopping on its streets or are having dinner under the city lights, wear clothes which make you feel your very best.
For me, such clothes would include classic outfits, comfy shoes, beautiful jewellery and accessories which express my personality. As you know, confidence is the best dress one can ever wear.
