November Outfit Inspiration: My Fashion Sense as an Over-50 Woman

Something in November always makes me think it’s time for my wardrobe to get an update. It is chilly in the mornings, and the evening comes way too soon, making me think about cosy jumpers, beautiful coats and what kind of boots I will wear during the following months.

However, there is one thing that I’ve learned from experience: being older does not mean you can’t stay fashionable anymore. I still like to feel elegant and comfortable, and I enjoy looking for some special touches for my outfits.

Here are some items I would choose if I were creating my November wardrobe.

An elegant coat and a bit of colour
A great coat is something everyone should have in their wardrobe. I'm partial to the idea of having an elegant coat in classic camel or chocolate brown, but I think November is just a great time for adding a bit of colour.

Reds, purples, and burgundy hues look great with the deeper tones of clothes worn during autumn and winter. And there is no need to dress in all bright colours; sometimes, just a scarf or a pullover can help make the whole look more festive.

For me, it's all about wearing colours which suit you well and make you feel happy whenever you wear them. Fashion isn't about a list of rules; fashion is about enjoyment.

Jeans, dresses, and my favourite boots
I like having different choices in my wardrobe. Sometimes I would love to wear a nice pair of jeans and a cosy sweater, but sometimes I want to wear a dress and spend a bit more time getting ready.
For a regular outfit, I would choose dark jeans with cosy knitwear and ankle boots. Such a combination is quite good for shopping, a lunch date, or a busy day out.

For something elegant and classy, I would go for knee-high boots. I would combine them with either a dress or a skirt and a stylish coat and scarf.
I think the main thing is to wear clothes that fit both your lifestyle and your style.

Jewellery is never something you think of afterwards
No doubt you will not be surprised to know that jewellery is in my November wardrobe.
The wonderful thing about gold and silver jewellery is their versatility. Gold can bring warmth to autumnal colours, and silver is great with navy, grey and other cool colours.

A neckpiece with a plain sweater, earrings or even a bracelet peeking out from underneath your sleeves can take a basic outfit up a notch.

These are the tiny details which enable us to make our outfits our own.

How I will dress in November
I am not looking to invest in an entirely new wardrobe with each new season. On the contrary, what interests me more is selecting garments I like and playing around with styling them differently.

In November, I will be pairing knit garments with bright accessories, wearing my favourite boots, and accessorising myself with jewellery that would make me look a bit fancier even during everyday activities.

For me, fashion in your fifties is all about confidence and being yourself.
